indigo workshop for children - SOLD OUT
Indigo is the name given to a lovely deep blue colour and the plant from which the natural pigment comes. Indigo dye is used to make blue jeans and, with a little bit of magic, can be easily made into a fantastic dye bath for trying out some shibori and tie-dye effects.

On this course, you will learn how to make an indigo dye vat and how to use it.
As the vats take a few hours to mature, we will have a ready-made vat prepared for you to try out some dying techniques on pieces of cotton.

When you have found your favourite shibori or tie-dye style, we will give you a cotton tote bag to design using your brand new skills. You will then set to work making it look exactly as you choose. You can even bring a plain boring item of clothing, such as a white t-shirt, with you and try out your skills on that too.

You will leave the course with your unique and extraordinary tote bag, at least three pieces of shibori dyed cotton, which you can then fashion into beautiful things at home and an upcycled garment if you remember to bring one with you. Yippee!
