Ryeland Wool, hand carded, handspun and hand dyed

Ryeland Wool at Wild and Madder is hand carded, hand spun, and hand dyed, with some batches created using natural dyes to achieve beautiful soft shades. Ryeland wool is known for its bouncy, warm softness—once earning the name Leominster Gold—our art wool is wonderfully unique, featuring charming lumps and bumps. Available in various colours, weights, and textures, it is fabulous for weaving and knitting one-off pieces that celebrate individuality. Perfectly aligned with our passion for small, unique batches, this wool brings natural colour and texture to life in every stitch.
The blues and greens here were achieved using synthetic dyes but the rest are all natural and dyed with plants such as weld and quebracho. We are soon to set up our indigo bath, so watch this space for some natural blues too.
